My diet sucks

I went to a seminar today on metabolic efficiency training. I have always known that my biggest problem in weight loss and optimum performance was rooted in diet. I workout a lot and weight has come off but not at the rate it should. I've even had well-meaning people say that with the amount of time I spend working out, I should be skinnier. The seminar was only two hours so it just touched the surface but it was very interesting and definitely sparked my interest.

What is metabolic efficiency you might ask? It is the body's efficiency of utilizing the bodies own stores of carbohydrates or sugars and fat at different intensities and durations of exercise and at rest. An equation to explain the way to get the best results is ME=3/4N (nutrition) + 1/4E (exercise). It seems so simple, doesn't it? Then why do I have such a hard time at it? I think I have been doing the equation backwards. Mine looked more like 3/4E + 1/4N and was not seeing the results I wanted.

The basic plan to follow is to build your plate around healthy unsaturated fats such as avocados, coconut milk or oils, olives, olive oil, grass-fed butter, grass-fed cheese, nut butter and raw nuts (not peanuts), raw seeds, sesame oil, and wild cold-water fish. Then choose your protein. Choose a protein that is sustainable (fish, beef, pork, bacon, chicken, bison, turkey, nuts, eggs, dairy, etc.). Finally, choose low glycemic vegetables and fruits. Some examples of these would be artichoke, asparagus, baby corn, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, beets, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chayote, cherries, cucumber, daikon, eggplant, greens, leeks, mushrooms, okra, onions, pea pods, peppers, radishes, rutabaga, salad greens, sprouts, squash, sugar snap peas, swiss chard, tomato, turnips, and water chestnuts.

I know that this change will not happen overnight. I am also doubtful that I will be able to change 100% but I do feel confident that I can make some changes. Hopefully, once a few changes are made, I will see the benefit and it will be easier to make even more changes.
